Seahorse

A swirling steel seahorse built from layered plate and rod — coiled tail, curled snout, and all.

The story

The seahorse is one of the hardest shapes in the ocean to hold in metal: everything curves at once. This piece is built from layered steel plate for the body and rod for the fin spines, with the tail coiled under the weight of the piece. The finish keeps the weld texture visible — part of the drawing, not a flaw to hide.
